How to change the Windows Default Identity

Go to Computer Tips & Tricks > General Computer Tips & Tricks > How to change the Windows Default Identity

 In windows XP, you can change the windows default identity (Computer Manufacturer Logo and other information's) and share your own private identity.

  • Right click on My Computer and choose properties
  • Under the General Tab you will find "Manufactured and Supported by" which will specify the details of the Manufacturer or Blank Space.

Follow these Steps to change the Default Identity:

  • Open Notepad and paste the Highlighted content

[General]
Manufacturer="www.FunTheory.Net"
Model=
"Computer Free Tips and Tricks!"
[Support Information]
Line1="We offer various help topics including A to Z Computer Free Tips."
Line2="Visit daily for new tips www.FunTheory.Net"

  • You can change the data except of the content which is in Red
  • Now save the file in the following directory c:/windows/system32 with the file name OEMINFO.INI
  • You can have your own picture with size 150x150 pixels approximately
  • Save the image in the following directory c:/windows/system32 with the image name OEMLOGO.BMP
  • Restart your computer and check the System Properties
  • Now click on Support Information for more details.
