Delete typed URL in Internet Explorer

Go to Computer Tips & Tricks > General Computer Tips & Tricks > Delete typed URL in Internet Explorer

Whenever you type an address directly into the Internet Explorer's address bar, the URL will be saved in IE's history. If you pull downdown this list later, those URLs will show up.  Because of privacy and security concerns, you may want to delete these entries periodically.

Although you can remove the website URLs from the address bar dropdown list by clearing the history from Internet Explorer, its tougher to delete individual addresses from this list without some registry editing. You can either add the registry for deleting all the URLs or delete selected URLs manually by navigating to the following location.

Follow these steps

  • Download the Registry Key for deleting the typed URLs from Internet Explorer.

  • Extract the file and Double click on the file or Right click and choose Merge.
  • Click Yes and then Ok

  • If you would like to delete selected URLs, then navigate to the following location
  • Click Start > Run and type Regedit
  • HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\TypedURLs
  • Delete selected URLs.
