Making these changes in Registry will help you in modifying the Start Menu and Explorer options. You need to be very precise while making changes in the registry. Creating these Values will restrict access to some Start Menu items and Explorer options without using any third party applications.

Follow these Steps:

  • Click Start and then click Run and type Regedit and Hit enter.
  • Navigate to the following Registry Key
  • HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer
  • Highlight Explorer Key
  • On the right side, do a right click and choose New > DWORD Value or Binary Value
  • Check the Value Type before creating registry keys
  • There should not be any space between the Value Name, type the exact name as you see below.

Note:

DWORD Value:

  • For DWORD Value just add 1 or 0. For Example: If the Value Data is 00000001, Just do a right click on the Value Name and choose Modify and typeand automatically it will show 00000001 in Value Data. The same logic applies for the other Value Data as well. If the Value Data is 00000000 Just do a right click on the Value Name and choose Modify and type 0 and automatically it will show 00000000 in Value Data.

Binary Value:

  • You will find Four Zero 0000. This Value 0000 is default and you cannot remove it
  • For Binary Value, When you choose modify; Just do a right click on the Value Name and choose Modify and add the Value Data.
